A huge crater located in the middle of Karakum Desert seems to be the main character of a dramatic scene from a science fiction film, but is entirely real.
The crater was made by geologists in over 40 years ago and the flames which were produced continued to burn until now, writes dailymail.co.uk.
Location is in Turkmenistan, about 260 kilometers from the capital, and locals call it "The Door to Hell".
In 1971, Soviet geologists have drilled there and found a cave with natural gas. The ground under the drilling site collapsed, leaving a hole with diameter of 70 meters. Fearing that harmful gases are released, the team of geologists decided to set fire to the crater, and the fire burns today.
Flames produce a light that can be seen from miles away.
