An ancient Mayan skull, which prophecies said that will defend humanity from a violent end, was dropped in a laboratory in Germany.

During a photo shoot, the skull of volcanic rock called Quauthemoc, fell on the floor. After the incident Quauthemoc's chin was chipped. So far nobody knows exactly if the skull was dropped by someone or fell alone.

"It was probably put in an unstable place because, suddenly, he collapsed on the floor. A big part of the chin shattered. It was really tragic," said a witness.

However, the owner of the skull, an amateur historian, Thomas Ritter, does not believe that scientists will be responsible for the Apocalypse. "At first I was shocked, but then I found out that the damage was minor and I recovered. Don't think it's a bad sign".

Mayan legend claims that the artifact is one of 13 magical skulls that have the power to help humanity to survive the Apocalypse "programmed" this year on December 21.

On that day, Thomas Ritter plans to arrive in Mexico to be with the other 12 owners of skulls. "The prophecy says that that day, skulls will reveal a secret knowledge of humanity. More details are unknown. It is possible for them to start talking or something like that", said Ritter.

Ritter says that during an expedition organized by the Nazis, the object was stolen from a monastery in southern India and Tibet, sometime between 1937-1939. After the war, he was found among the assets Minister Heinrich Himmler, a collector of these "heathen" artifacts.
